Thigh Lift Surgery in Baltimore
The thighs tend to lose their shape and firmness as part of the normal aging process. Also, the skin in the upper thigh region can become loose and saggy, especially after significant weight loss. Thigh lift improves the tone and contour of the thighs, giving them a more youthful appearance.
Thigh Lift Candidates
Thigh lift candidates generally have thighs that sag, do not respond to diet or exercise or feel out of proportion to the rest of the body. If you’re thinking about having a thigh lift, you should be in good health with no serious medical conditions that could compromise the healing process or increase the surgical risks.
Dr. Horowitz will meet with you during a surgical consultation to examine your thighs, discuss your expectations of surgery and go over the procedure in detail.
The Thigh Lift Procedure
Thigh lift is an outpatient procedure performed with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. Baltimore thigh lift surgeon Dr. Horowitz will first make an incision in the crease of the groin, extending downward and wrapping around the back of the thigh. If Dr. Horowitz also needs to treat the outer thighs, he may make an additional incision extending from the groin around the hip. He will reshape the underlying tissue and then pull the skin taut against the muscle, trimming the excess. The remaining skin is then sutured together and surgical dressings are applied. Dr. Horowitz will likely want you to wear a compression garment for several weeks following your procedure; this helps to support the tissues as they heal and to minimize swelling in the thighs.
Recovering from Thigh Lift
Your thighs will be swollen and bruised after surgery. These side effects will subside over time. During the beginning stages of your recovery, you should get as much rest as possible and avoid bending, straining or lifting. Dr. Horowitz will schedule several follow-up appointments to check your progress and clear you to return to work, exercise and your normal routine.
