Restylane – Dr. Jeffrey Horowitz
Restylane is an injectable product like Botox, but it serves a slightly different purpose. It’s part of the dermal filler class, meaning it adds volume and structure to areas of the face that show signs of aging, like sunken cheeks or deep nasolabial folds. Restylane is often used to soften lines, enhance the cheeks or plump the lips. It is based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance, so the risk of allergic reaction is rare.
What is Restylane Treatment Like?
Restylane treatment is conveniently performed in Dr. Horowitz’s office, and takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Dr. Horowitz will inject the product at strategic points (e.g., cheeks, lips) that need volume and structure. Restylane hydrates the skin and acts as an inflated “cushion” to support the facial structures and tissues. It also draws water to the surface of the skin so it looks fresh and healthy.
Results will last about three to six months, depending upon where it’s injected, until the product is absorbed by the body. Dr. Horowitz encourages repeat treatments to maintain the results. If treatment is not repeated, the results fade and the facial features return to their original appearance.
Restylane may be combined with another cosmetic treatment for more comprehensive results. For example, if you want to treat areas of sun damage or hyperpigmentation, you may be interested in laser skin resurfacing. Or, to smooth crow’s feet around the eyes, inquire about Botox.
After speaking with Dr. Horowitz about your facial rejuvenation goals, he will develop a treatment plan that addresses your concerns. He may have other recommendations for improving your facial features and helping you look your best.
