Microblading is a procedure designed to implant pigment into the epidermal layer of the skin to enhance and shape the eyebrow. Our Brow Artist, Carly, uses a hand held instrument to draw hair-like strokes into the brow to mimic real brow hair.
Why Should I Care What My Brows Look Like?
Eyebrows and lips tend to lose color and contrast with age. A recent study profiled in Time Magazine demonstrated that when subjects were shown photos of women with that lack of contrast to their brows and lips, the observers thought they appeared old.
When those same photographs were Photoshopped to give the eyebrows and lips back some contrast, the observers now correlated those same photos with a youthful appearance!
What's it all mean? It means that keeping your brows well defined and darker can help you look younger!
Who is a Good Candidate for Microblading?
Patients who have sparse brows, bald spots, uneven brows, short brows, are unable to fill them in correctly, don't like the drawn-on solid brow look, have thin brows, or no natural arch are all great candidates!
In addition, anyone suffering from alopecia, trichotillomania or any other condition that can cause hair loss would greatly benefit from microblading.
Finally, anyone simply unhappy with his or her brows may benefit!
How Long Does it Last?
Microblading is considered to be 'semi-permanent' since it lasts up-to 3 years on some skin-types.
Does it Look Natural?
Carly performs the procedure using a very fine blade to deposit pigments into the epidermis. The pigment is formulated to match your original eyebrow color, so it blends perfectly with your present eyebrow hair.
The color is placed closed to the surface and with precise, crisp strokes to mimic the appearance of real hair.
Is it Safe?
The pigments are completely natural, vegan, cruelty-free, plant-based and FDA-approved.
Carly is an experienced and certified microblading artist and complies with all the appropriate laws and regulations in the state of Maryland. She is blood borne pathogens certified.
How Is It Performed?
Microblading is a 2-step procedure. After the first session, the brows appear darker, but get a little lighter over a two-week period. This is just excess pigment exiting the skin.
You will need to return to the office 30 days after your initial procedure for the free "Perfecting Session". It is absolutely crucial to have this touch-up done, as it is very difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment after the initial session.
After the "Perfecting Session", you will only need to come back for a touch up once a year or so to retain the shape and saturation of pigment.

Are There Any Patients Who are Not Candidates?
- Patients who have or are prone to keloid scars.
- Patients who are pregnant or nursing.
- Persons with diabetes must obtain a note with your Doctor's approval.
- Patients must be off of chemotherapy drugs for at least 6 months prior to his or her appointment.

What Can I Expect After the Procedure?
Immediately after the procedure, your skin may feel tender and/or tight. Your brows may seem darker the next day or two, due to excess pigment leaving the skin. There are no activity restrictions after the microblading procedure.
It takes about 7-14 days for the brows to heal and about one month for the color to fully set in. You will notice the color will get very light around the two week mark and the skin will have a opaque, milky looking quality to it. This is known as "milk skin" and is common after tattooing. The true color of your brows will reveal itself once healed.
