What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is the only legitimate nonsurgical alternative to liposuction.   Invented by Harvard scientists, the CoolSculpting unit uses technology to gently lower the temperature of fat cells so they dissolve.  The dissolved fat is then cleared naturally by your body.

Am I a good candidate?

The best candidates for CoolSculpting have problem areas that easily conform to the shape of the CoolSculpting unit.  This means fat “rolls” will respond the best.  Good examples are the “lovehandles” and rolls of fat along the bra line.  If you’re unsure if your problem areas would be better served with liposuction or by CoolSculpting, make an appointment with Dr. Horowitz to discuss your options.

Do I have to go to sleep to have CoolSculpting?

One of the best things about CoolSculpting is that it’s done right in the office and doesn’t require any anesthesia.

What are the risks?

CoolSculpting has been proven to be safe and effective by the FDA.  Since fat freezes at a lower temperature than the surrounding tissues, they are unaffected by the procedure.

Are there any disadvantages to CoolSculpting when compared to liposuction?

The main drawback to CoolSculpting is that the results are less dramatic than with operative liposuction so the ideal candidate would be the patient with modest amounts of excess fat.  The procedure can also be repeated to provide better results.  Consulting with Dr. Horowitz will allow you to determine if CoolSculpting or operative liposuction is right for you.
