Brazilian Butt Lift
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift? (BBL)
Buttock Augmentation using the patient’s own fat (aka the “Brazilian Butt Lift”) is a procedure exploding in popularity because it exemplifies the very essence of Plastic Surgery – transforming something that’s negative into something positive. During the procedure, fat is liposuctioned from wherever indicated (ie. the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs – even other parts of the buttock where it’s undesirable) and it is put back into key areas of the buttocks.
Can the BBL be combined with other procedures?
All procedures involving fat grafting to the buttocks require obtaining the fat via liposuction. Beyond that, many other procedures can be performed at the same time including tummy tucks.
Especially powerful is the combination of liposuction to the abdomen and back along with the BBL. This produces a pleasing harmony between your new buttock shape and your body’s overall silhouette.
I’m considering the BBL but I don’t want my butt to be too big.
This is a common concern amongst BBL candidates. Although the surgery is capable of producing buttocks that are significantly larger, like all the surgeries Dr. Horowitz performs, the BBL is tailored to the individual patient’s desires. When appropriate, the overall buttock size can be left relatively unchanged, but the shape of the buttocks improved dramatically.
What is the recovery like following the BBL?
After your surgery, pressure cannot be put on the buttocks for eight weeks. Dr. Horowitz will show you how to sit while limiting the amount of pressure on the areas that have been fat grafted. Otherwise, you can slowly resume normal activity two weeks after the surgery.
